This is a brief overview of the top essential oils that supported me greatly in my recovery from emotional addiction. For more info on essential oils, my team, or any questions you might have, email me at firstname.lastname@example.org and you will hear back from me shortly.
First, a little on addiction.
Addiction comes in many forms. Most of them come from a deep longing to connect with our heart. But for some reason, along the way, we were taught that this was not okay. And so we seek distractions elsewhere. We search for anything that might cover up that longing. That emptiness. That pain.
And this anything might be substances, electronics, abusive people and relationships, food, overworking, self-harming. The list is long..
My deep longing lead me into codependency and toxic relationships. I attracted verbal/emotional abuse, and I got addicted to it. I developed self-destructive patterns and found myself living in a state of stagnant vibration: Low self-esteem, anger, frustration, confusion, sadness and judgement.
This became my pattern, it was all I knew and I made home in victim hood and helplessness. I chose a “drug” that not only brought me closer to this stagnant vibration, but reinforced it.
Addiction held me hostage for years. It kept me in this familiar place, and it was all I knew. I thought it was home. But it was slowly tearing me apart. Once I realized this, I tried to quit. I tried to leave the relationship. But I couldn't. However much I wanted to, I could not quit. It had become a part of me and I did not know who I was without it.
In order to break free from any addictive behaviors, we need to create new ways and new habits. And repeat them. Over and over again so we rewire our body and our mind.
We are creatures of habits and we naturally incline towards patters. Your body and mind will respond to new experiences. It’s possible for all of us. However far you are down the road of self-destructive behavior, you can change. I did. And so can you. If you are willing.
First, and it is important that you know this: High quality essentials oils will increase the vibration of your physical body. In this environment low energies cannot survive. They create an environment where healing can take place and helps us sustain our new journey.
Through our sense of smell we have direct access to the our emotional control center in our brain which stores memories and emotions. By inhaling an essential oil, you are feeding your brain new information, and emotional responses are being created. When used topically they interact with the meridians (energy pathways) and yield emotional shifts.
Unresolved feelings stay trapped in our body, and allowing these to be released create great shifts. Most people (including me) will describe it as feeling FREE! As you continue to let go, allow old pain to surface and be released, your spirit will feel lighter. A whole new world will open up, and you begin to see it with new eyes.
The oils are fabulous to use in combination with any other modalities such as yoga, meditation, therapy, massage, acupuncture, energy-work, dance, exercise and whatever lights you up and feels good for you!
Here is an overview of some of the most important oils I used in my recovery:
BERGAMOT - The oil of Self-Acceptance
Bergamot relief feelings of despair, low self-esteem and self-judgement, moving us towards self-love and self-acceptance. It cleanses the energetic system of negativity, restores optimism and unconditional confidence. Bergamot helps with depression as well as breaking the cycle of relapse.
I used it in my diffuser, I inhaled the aroma from either the bottle or from hands, and applied it to my solar plexus chakra which is the chakra linked to confidence and self-worth. I used it in combination with powerful breath work and affirmations, and created daily routines.
Every morning. Every day.
I repeated affirmations over and over and over again determined to change the patterns. I wrote affirmation cards and added a drop of Bergamot to them so my brain would link the word with the aroma, and returned to these cards when I needed. Bergamot supported me greatly in claiming my power, my worth and my confidence.
Today when I inhale the aroma of Bergamot positive thoughts are being generated in my mind. Which again leads to positive emotions, which again trigger a positive action or word.
See how this works? It's pretty amazing!
